On February 5, MFA celebrated the grand opening of Nuevo Atrisco, an 88-unit multi-use apartment community on the northwest corner of Central Ave and Unser Blvd.
In addition to residential units, Nuevo Atrisco includes 42,000 square feet of ground-level retail, restaurant and plaza space facing Central Ave. MFA’s tax credit program contributed $10 million to the development, as well as more than $2.3 million in additional funding. The City of Albuquerque donated the land and provided $3.7 million through the Workforce Housing Trust Fund. YES Housing, Inc. was the developer.
MFA Executive Director Izzy Hernandez attended the Nuevo Atrisco ribbon-cutting ceremony. During the event, Hernandez thanked construction and development partners and spoke on the importance of community-oriented housing, saying, “… constructing a house is much more than putting up four walls and a roof. It is about creating a safe space where families can grow and thrive – a quality home that is affordable over the long-term.”
